o+e journal – vol. 001

Welcome to the olive+elliot journal – vol.001

“Hello World.”

Borrowing a quote from Bill Gates, we’re excited to launch the o+e journal!
First, a thank you, to each of you for having subscribed over the past year, likely having found us on a sometimes quirky account in the Instagram ether.
We hope you’ll follow along with our weekly adventures, but at any time it feels overwhelming please feel free to unsubscribe.
We want you to feel comfortable with us and we are always open to suggestions and constructive feedback.
So with that let’s get into it!

It’s very much a work in progress but better something than nothing.
So feel free to check it out any time and send us a message with your thoughts at hello@oliveandelliot.com
It will be growing and improving over the coming weeks so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Hi! My name is Esme, and I’m the Founder and CEO of olive+elliot.
o+e started as a New Year’s Resolution to learn more skills, it turned into a creative space, an oasis from the stresses of the work week. Last year, I took the plunge and decided to make a go of this little startup-that-could and started working with Ryerson University’s Fashion Zone Incubator in Toronto.

olive+elliot in the news!

We sat down with Toronto’s sustainable fashion organization Fashion Takes Action to talk about all things o+e, feel free to take a peak at the interview:
Behind the Seams with olive+elliot

What we’re reading:
What’s in our Garden?
We’ve got a few pilot seedling growing at home while we search for urban farming collaborators in Toronto.
olive+elliot is focused on textile and natural dye crops, so we’ve got a beautiful spectrum of flowers that are just peaking through since starting them last week. Including:
  • Milkweed
  • Flax
  • Sunflowers
  • And many more…

What’s on our sewing table?
Since moving to Toronto full-time in April, we’ve finally set up the home studio and are excited to get back behind the pedal of our Elna Supermatic.
This weekend there will be a bit of selfish sewing just to get back into the swing of things, which we will post as always on Instagram.
We’re also working on a few surprises, so stay tuned for more updates about what’s on our sewing table.
